8 Months Old!!

Where does the time go? I realized that I better get an 8 month post up before it's time for a 9 month update!

This last month has been a very fun one for Wes. He cut his second tooth, so he now has these two adorable little bottom teeth poking up. He loves to now eat veggie and fruit puffs for snack and one of his favorite things to do is use those two little teeth to crunch the puffs! He has really gotten the hang of using his little pincher fingers to grasp the puff and put it in his mouth. This was a precious learning process to watch! I love watching him focus and concentrate as he picks it up and brings it to his mouth. But, our absolute favorite thing is watching his little lips and tongue as he rolls it around in his mouth and then saying "mmmmm", feeling so satisfied!

Wes is a very independent sitter these days. He has even figured out how to lunge forward onto his tummy from a sitting position. It isn't always a very graceful process, but it does the trick! Wes can get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth, but when it comes to needing to get somewhere, he defaults to his masterful army crawl.

Wes has also discovered how to clap! The video below was taken the first day he started exercising his new trick. The story I am reading is his absolute favorite book right now as you can tell by how often he claps throughout!

The biggest difference that we have seen in Wes over the past month is how interactive he is becoming with the world around him. He is curious (or nosy as we sometimes say) about everything! He will crawl/scoot over to you when he wants to play with you or be picked up. He talks and babbles all the time, coming up with new sounds and syllables every day.

Here are some of the recent highlights for us....

Daddy is showing Wes some of his soccer moves. As you can see, Wes is taking very good notes!

All decked out for St. Patrick's Day...even a green paci!

One of Wes's favorite things is to look at books or have books read to him! This teacher couldn't be prouder! :)

Wes loves his new activity table. He has a blast standing up next to it and banging it so that all the sounds and lights go off!

Wes got to spend a lot of time with his cousin Zeke recently and they became good buddies.

Although the last month has been a challenging one as we grieve the loss of Jeremy's dad, Rick, we also take great joy in the life of our sweet boy. While Wes will not remember his Papa, we hope and pray that he will still be inspired by the life that Rick led.

We love you Papa!
